When Caldwell Companies was looking to establish a community in the Northwest Houston area with a Texas Hill Country feel and family-friendly amenities, they looked to 7gen to expand upon and develop their vision.

7gen provided landscape architecture services for this 64-acre community that includes a fully connected system of multiple parks, open space areas, and trail system as centerpieces of the community. The extensive trail system provides over 24-miles for residents to connect right from their front door with neighbors, schools, local shopping, area parks, and a future connection to the Harris County Precinct 4 Little Cypress Creek Preserve. The parks within Copper Bend were planned and designed as a cohesive master park system versus stand-alone parks, but with each park having its own unique identity.

The master park system was designed for each member of the community to enjoy and experience and includes:

  • A nature park for children to have active experiences with the environment
  • An amenity lake trail for fitness and viewing of waterfowl interactions with the native fauna
  • Planting shelves at the edge of the lake
  • A passive reflection under the canopy of a majestic century oak

7gen discovered a century oak on the project site during the section 1 planning and platting stage. This tree was too important to be removed and provided 7gen an opportunity to incorporate the beautiful tree as a focal point of a park designed around its majesty. 7gen pulled the plat from the city submittal and made an immediate revision, redesigning to save the tree.
